Proven Track Record of Industry Dominance

The occupational rehabilitation industry was traditionally a cottage industry with hundreds of small owner operated provider businesses. These were generally aligned with employers and focused in major commercial centres. In New South Wales alone, there were in excess of 150 providers and in South Australia over 100.

The Konekt vision was to become the first truly national provider of workplace health services and integrate people, process and technology to deliver a solution to the increasingly larger players in the national market.

The first part of Konekt’s evolution was to establish the footprint and this was achieved by the acquisition of five organisations:

  • Medepartner provided the technology platform and was the foundation of Konektiva
  • Countrywide Injury Management – mainly a WA based rehab provider
  • WIMS Injury Management – had a mainly NSW based business and a strong alignment to GIO – this was also the birthplace of early intervention
  • IRS – owned by Vero Insurance
  • Inergise – a national rehab provider owned by Therese Rein and her first business venture

These acquisitions provided Konekt with nationwide geographic coverage and over 300 experienced employees.

From 2005 to present, Konekt has concentrated on differentiating itself from traditional occupational rehabilitation providers by diversifying into a number of different service lines: Konekt Containment, Konekt Safe, Konekt Response, Konekt Recovery, and Employment Konektions. These service lines address the breadth of services offered in the area of occupational care, prevention of injury, rehabilitation, and risk management.
